Inn On Poplar Hill

The food here is exceptional. If we could come just for breakfast, we would. The grounds and landscaping are beautiful, and the location is convenient. Six years ago, my husband and I had a lovely private wedding ceremony at the Inn on Poplar Hill. Victoria and Marty accommodated our vegetarian diet and were friendly, socialable, and helpful while still giving us privacy. We returned this year with our infant daughter for our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised that they had upgraded us to the same room we'd stayed in during our wedding weekend. Victoria and Marty were just as kind and helpful as before. We'll definitely come back for more anniversaries.

Fresh brownies were always waiting in the entry, and breakfast was delicious. Marty and his wife were such sweet, gracious hosts, and they went out of their way to help my boyfriend and me plan the weekend. Marty made a reservation for us at a delicious local restaurant and suggested daytime activities. On Saturday he drove us to several vineyards for wine tastings, so we didn't need to arrange a shuttle. It was really convenient, like having our own private wine tour. The Inn is in the adorable town of Orange, surrounded by VA wine country, and made a perfect cozy weekend getaway. I highly recommend it.

We were planning to stay at a local motel for a last-minute retreat, but I came across this quaint bed and breakfast tucked behind a bustling city. Luckily, they had one room left when I called, the jacuzzi room, also known as the blue willow room. I love homes built in the 1800s, and this one didn't disappoint. The decor is fantastic, and the place feels warm and friendly. Marty and Victoria were the most attentive hosts I've ever had. They provide fresh snacks daily and a wonderful breakfast in the morning. I'm not a caffeinated coffee drinker, but Marty made sure I had a pitcher of decaf ready. Victoria took time to greet and mingle with guests. They're accommodating with food and drinks, and I'll definitely stay again.

The innkeepers were especially kind and accommodating with a nervous, anxious traveler like me. When we had trouble with international card payments, their patience and helpfulness said a lot about their character. Breakfast was very nice too. They let me choose between a varied, multi-course cooked breakfast or just toast and coffee, and accommodated what I wanted. The rooms were comfortable and homely, and town is a reasonably short walk away.
