Hotel Belair Orlando Near Florida Mall

We arrived late on New Year’s, and everywhere else was booked, so we stayed even though we’d reserved this place more than 30 days ahead. I can’t believe we didn’t leave immediately. I’ve traveled to 18 countries, and this is easily the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. My partner and I are 85 combined, she’s European, and we travel often. We’d never heard of Rodeway before, and we’ll never stay at one again. Charging people to stay here feels like a crime. I hate giving it a star, but the site required one to post. The place was filthy and run down everywhere. The walls, door, headboard, outlet covers, trim, and grounds were nasty. The carpet was disgusting, hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and wasn’t even laid down properly in the corners. The comforter had cigarette burns, the art was broken, the fridge was loud, and the iron board was in bad shape. The pillows were cheap and old, and the pillowcases looked about two decades old. There was no hot water, and the tiny bathroom barely gave you room to turn around. The towels were old and scratchy. Even driving around the cramped outside grounds was unpleasant. You can’t go inside to talk to staff, only through bulletproof glass to a CSR. That tells you plenty.

The front desk woman was awesome when we arrived and gave us ideas for places to go around Orlando. Our room was clean, smelled fresh, and was well kept, with everything working and lots of space. It’s in a great area near stores and not too far from the beach. We’re really enjoying our stay. A great little place.

The room smelled strongly of smoke the moment I opened the door, even though they said the rooms were non-smoking. We decided not to stay, but the employee wouldn’t refund us until I got the manager involved. While I was waiting, another guest said they opened their room after check-in and found clothes and underwear everywhere, the TV on, and someone else already in the room. Choice privileges should disown this place. Consider this your warning: don’t stay here.

I had no car, and honestly could’ve slept in it instead. I spent four nights here, which was a terrible decision. The room smelled awful and had roaches everywhere. I opened the microwave and counted ten. The sheets were dirty and housekeeping never changed or cleaned them. I killed a bug, and it was still on the sheet when I left. I took my child here, and now she has lice, so I have to pay for treatment. The shower and bathroom were disgusting, with roaches on the floor. I don’t know why places like this exist. I’d tell people never to stay here.
