Extended Stay America Premier Suites Daytona Beach

I've stayed here twice and am very pleased with the place. The rooms are spacious and clean, the surroundings feel quiet and safe, and the staff are friendly. Housekeeping always greets you and has something nice to say. The property is well kept, and I especially like the kitchenette with its sink, full fridge and freezer, microwave, and cooktop. I'll absolutely come back whenever I'm in town.

The room had a strong urine smell, and when we stripped the beds we found a huge old urine stain. I showed pictures of how filthy it was, but was refused a refund because the room was nonrefundable. Itzeal, the manager, didn't come up or try to fix things. She directed us to the only housekeeper on duty and said room service comes every seven days, sometimes every two weeks, because they have one housekeeper. We were expected to make our own beds. It was a terrible stay from the start. Check-in was meant to be at 3, but we were told to wait until after 5 because the rooms weren't ready. The elevator was broken, so my family and I had to move our belongings around. Once we finally got into the room, they said they didn't have enough clean washcloths and towels to give us. The next morning, my son turned in used ones for replacements, but Itzeal gave him just one washcloth and two towels. I went to the lobby to ask to check out early because the stay was so far below standard, and was told no. On Saturday the elevator was broken again. The young woman who should have been at the front desk was nowhere to be seen until I called hello several times. I asked for the corporate number; she said she didn't have it. When I asked her to contact her manager, she quickly said she didn't have that number either, without trying to call. She let guests wait at an elevator she knew was broken and didn't say anything or put up a sign, leaving us to climb four flights again. On Sunday I raised my concerns with Itzeal. She said she couldn't issue a refund and didn't have corporate's number, but would talk to Monica, the other manager, about a refund. On Monday I called for Monica, and Itzeal said she was at the bank and would call me back. She never did. I want all my money back and wouldn't recommend anyone stay in these horrendous conditions.

The room at Extended Stay America Premier Suites was thoughtfully laid out with clean lines and a cozy feel. There was no carpet, which was a huge bonus, and it had a full fridge and freezer, two stovetop burners, microwave, and full sink. Dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and hangers have to be requested at check-in or during the reservation. Breakfast runs 6:30 to 10 and is grab-and-go. The gym has a treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, and limited dumbbells, if any. There are full washers and dryers and vending machines. Walmart is less than half a mile away, with McDonald’s within walking distance and a range of local and chain restaurants nearby. The beaches are within an 8-mile radius, and I-95 S/N is a quarter mile away. Great location.

We didn't get enough towels for four people and were told the room had an adequate amount. We also got just one small shampoo and one small bar of soap for all of us. The front desk treated us like second-class citizens, without respect. For the price and type of property, we deserved a much better stay. Hospitality as a whole has seen better days. I'd been told by a woman on the phone that there would be four pillows on each bed, but only three were provided. When I asked the front desk for more, Jacqueline said she'd be fired and get in trouble if she gave them to us. Seriously? The pillows were smaller than airplane pillows, and the bed was harder than a rock. Jacqueline could have handled the situation more professionally and with more class, without speaking badly about management or saying she'd be fired. The hotel wasn't even fully occupied. Do better.
