Holiday Inn & Suites Overland Park West by IHG

Jessica in the restaurant was so sweet, attentive, and interested in us as customers. My long-distance boyfriend and I were on our first date together in person, and she made it feel special. We had dinner, liked her so much that we came back for dessert, and she arranged our cheesecake in a heart. It was amazing, and I can't say enough about how good it was. Please give Jessica a raise! The room was nice, I liked the view, and the water pressure was great. I'm allergic to coconut, so I loved that the soap was Dove, which works well for me. I didn't like that breakfast wasn't free, and nobody told us until we'd already gotten our plates and had to seat ourselves.

Breakfast was very good, the rooms were nice, and the staff were wonderful during our two-day stay. I didn't catch the name of the young woman working Friday night, but she was helpful with check-in and anything else we needed. Demarcus was great during the day, and Erica in the restaurant was awesome both mornings. We were part of a volleyball team, so the restaurant was busy, but she hustled to help all the customers and checked in whenever someone looked her way. Some bathroom fixtures were rusty, including a towel rack that looked pretty disgusting. Still, kudos to the staff.

The suite was roomy, and the bathroom had a nice big shower. I liked that there was an indoor/outdoor pool, too. My only issue was getting to the room: nobody explained that a side entrance was right beside it, so I had to walk across the whole hotel from the desk. I’m disabled, and that was difficult.

We’ve stayed here twice while in town for medical procedures. The staff were great, but both visits came with breakfast problems at the attached restaurant. Things we ordered were forgotten, and we were charged twice for a child’s breakfast that we later learned should have been free. The workers we dealt with could use better communication or more help. They gave us breakfast vouchers on the second visit to make up for the first one. I’ve also had trouble getting my deposit back both times. After the first stay I had to call twice; after this one, I’ve called once so far.
