Quality Inn Owatonna Near Medical Center

I hadn't planned on needing a room that night, and this was the only place open. The staff were very friendly, the room and lobby were clean, and the coffee was fresh and strong. I expected another "Minnesota nice" money grab, but the rates here are below the national average.

The breakfast is amazing, with lots to choose from, and I'll add photos and videos soon. I've stayed at hotels and Quality Inns in California, Colorado, New York, and now Minnesota, but this place stands out. It's exceeded what I expected from a hotel in its category. The staff are kind and compassionate, the hotel is clean and affordable, and it's conveniently 25 minutes from my home. I stay here once or twice a month when I can, and feel like I've made friends here. I've had some stays worth reviewing, but this place takes the cake. I'd recommend this Quality Inn to anyone in the area who needs a place to stay or wants a little break from home. Thanks to all the staff!

The staff were polite, but that doesn't make up for paying $100 a night for such a disgusting place. The whole building felt filthy, including the lobby, elevator, stairs, hallways, dining area, rooms, and bathrooms. Our room and restroom smelled strongly of sweat, CIGARETTR SMOKE, dog odor, alcohol, and trash. The couch and bed were stained and stank badly. The walls, bedding, carpet, and furniture fabrics had stains, residue, tears, and holes, including red stains that looked like blood. The TV didn't work, and the dusty, noisy AC/heater made me sick because I'm allergic to dust. We stayed one night, Oct 11 to 12th, 2025. Breakfast was poor, with watered-down juice. There were very few towels, and the soap and shampoo dried out my scalp and skin. I couldn't see any security cameras in the parking lot, and when I tried to re-enter through the side doors, they wouldn't work, so I had to walk from the back parking lot all the way around to the front. This stay at Quality Inn was so bad I won't return to Choice Hotels.

It wasn't too bad, though the walls were thin enough that I could hear other people's phone calls and TV shows. I didn't check the bed, but the towels weren't quite clean. The shower was usually warmer, at least, and the tub wasn't clogged like those hotel baths where you're left ankle-deep in your own filth 😒
