Hotel Oxford

The bed linens looked clean, the shower and toilet worked, and it was quiet enough for me to get some sleep. Still, I would never recommend a place with no one on site to sort out problems. The stairwell was dim, the main light switch in the room didn't work, and the outlets by the beds wouldn't charge anything. Breakfast was just a few granola bars and coffee. I was in the Oxford area for a funeral, and rooms were hard to find that weekend. Hotel Oxford was about half the price of other hotels, so I took a chance. I booked a king bed but got a double room that cost $25 less. The desk guy said he couldn't help, management apparently is never there, and they only take emails. They haven't replied to my 3 emails asking for a refund. I feel like I got shafted out of $25 with that bait and switch. Horrible. Never again.

It was quiet and close to the interstate, which was a plus. The room had coffee cups but no coffee maker, and the tub had black marks all over the bottom. I don't know what they were, but they looked nasty, so we skipped the showers and waited until we got home to clean up. There were black marks on the couch, too, and the place smelled like the cleaner used in nursing homes. I know it's a bare bones motel, but at $140 plus a $100 deposit, I couldn't recommend it.

We were staying here after tornado damage to our home. It was really quiet, the beds were comfortable, and the facilities were clean. We had the king suite, which gave us a living room and made the place feel as homely as possible.

For just under $60 a night, I was very pleased. It's not a Sheridan or an Embassy, but the staff were friendly and check-in and check-out were quick and easy. The room had a couple of stains, which I think is to be expected, but my main concern was bugs, and there weren't any. I'll likely stay again on future trips to Oxford.
