Long Leaf Lodge

We used the outdoor pavilion by the pool for our evening get-together and HIGH STAKES poker tournament. I hear the champion ended up about four dollars ahead. The staff were first class and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. Our rooms were spotless and smelled good; the furniture was old, but the bed was comfortable and the WiFi did what we needed. Our group has stayed here before and plans to come back. The Alabama Brigade and her brigadeers are very thankful.

September 5, 2020: What a disaster. Three families booked for Labor Day weekend to stay at the long leaf and ride the MTB trails, but when we arrived they said there were no rooms and no check-ins. The employee on duty wouldn’t contact management or the owner. We’re all trying to get our money back and had to find rooms in town, 12 miles away. It ruined the vacation, and for all three families this was our first trip since staying at this hotel in March. Old review, 5 stars: I usually prefer Airbnb and don’t like hotels much, but this place felt like home. The rooms were huge, with kitchens, stoves, fridges, dining tables, sofas, and two beds. It was clean and quaint, and the staff were great to deal with. I’d stay again if I were in the area.

This place had a comfortable feel after those exhausting days of military style law enforcement basic training. I spent many nights here while I was at the police academy several years ago. The atmosphere has a military vibe, and the staff were always kind, especially after a day of being yelled at by the academy instructors, lol. I highly recommend it.

Erica was really sweet, and the manager guy was nice too. Housekeeping was the problem. The floors were still dirty after mopping, the beds weren’t made, and we ended up getting our own mop. When we asked to borrow a broom, one girl said the head housekeeper doesn’t sweep around tables when people are in there. We had to ask for fresh towels and leave the trash out. We were gone part of the day, but the room still wasn’t cleaned before the cleaning lady left. On Thursday morning, a woman banged on our door at 8 and said we were on a list, even though checkout wasn’t until Friday. We got up and left, came back to an uncleaned room, and checked out a day early. They need housekeeping with better manners.
