The room was clean and comfortable, and after the long drive, lying down on the bed felt like heaven. I had no concerns about anything in the room. The main problem was the wait to get in. I checked in on my phone several hours before arriving, set my arrival for after 2am, and someone called earlier to confirm I was still coming then. But when I arrived, I was told I couldn't get the room until 3am because the staff member was doing reports. I don't think it was her fault. I suspect this hotel does its night audit at 2am and the process takes time. Still, after an 11-hour drive, I had to wait another hour even though I'd confirmed my late arrival twice. My room was on the first floor, next to what I assume was a housekeeping closet. I couldn't sleep until 4am, then woke around 7-8am to the closet door opening and closing repeatedly and people talking loudly in the hallway. I had another six-hour drive ahead, so the lack of rest was really annoying. The location is convenient, beside lots of stores and restaurants, including Target, Publix, and Texas Roadhouse, so it was easy to pick up food and basics without going far.

The breakfast wasn't good: the scrambled eggs were hard and dry, and the sausage was cold. I wasn't expecting much, but the rest of my stay was disappointing too. Room 222 was hot when I arrived at 8pm after a day in the sun. The thermostat was set to 70, but the room read 78. After 30 minutes, the AC still wasn't blowing cold air. I called downstairs twice with no answer, then went down in person. Joseph asked if I'd called the front desk. I had, and wondered why no one answered. By then I was sweaty and upset about having to pack and move rooms. He said he would put me next to the front desk. I didn't want that because of the noise from the desk and the back room beside mine. The walls were thin enough that I could hear what was happening up front. The room also smelled dirty and felt worn out. I wondered if it was one of the rooms they try to fill every day for some reason, like being close to housekeeping. The last straw was finding the body soap dispenser empty when I was ready to shower and cool off. I should have checked, but do they not inspect rooms for temperature and soap? This is a newer hotel and I had high hopes, but I won't return.

In late August 2025, we pulled into TownePlace Suites in Oxford, AL while transporting some very precious cargo. It felt like a safe, easy stop, with everything close at hand: the hotel is just off I-20, Publix Super Market is nearby for essentials, and Oxford Exchange is across the parkway for shopping and dining. Everything we needed felt within arm's or dragon wing's reach. The room was spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully laid out, and the modern, elevated design felt more like an upscale destination than a roadside stop. After a long day avoiding speed traps and checkpoints, it was a great place to unwind. We didn't need the pet friendly policy on this trip, but it's a nice bonus for future travel. The staff's warmth was the real highlight. Everyone was friendly and attentive, and Kimberly at the front desk made check-in effortless with her professionalism and kindness. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. TownePlace Suites Oxford is a reliable, stylish stop where travelers and their precious cargo can feel safe and cared for.

The young woman who greeted us made check-in a great start to the evening. The room was great and the amenities were superb. This was the “Cadillac” of places to stay on our vacation.
