Staybridge Suites Oxnard River Ridge by IHG

We had a sunny, spacious King Studio on the second floor, overlooking the golf course, for six nights. There were two closets, quality linens, and a bed with just the right pillows and mattress. The full-size fridge and dishwasher came in handy. It took us a while to figure out the cooktop, so we called the front desk. There were no kitchen instructions, but after that it worked fine. Breakfast was very nice each morning, with a good mix of hot and cold food. The hotel staff were welcoming, kind, and helpful. We also used the laundry room. It was convenient, though washing or drying cost $4 a load, and a small box of detergent was another $4. We’d stay again.

The evening reception was a highlight of our stay for the U.S.S. Paul F. Foster 50th Anniversary Reunion. The fresh food, relaxed atmosphere, complimentary drinks, and appetizers made it easy to spend time with other guests. It’s a welcoming perk. The Sales Team and staff were professional and went out of their way for our group. Our suites were clean, spacious, and equipped with kitchens, with views over the beautiful River Ridge Golf Course. Between breakfast and the evening socials, we felt well looked after. Highly recommended for a large event or an extended stay.

Carlitos at the breakfast buffet deserves a special mention. He was kind, smiling, and made sure guests were comfortable and looked after. He really made breakfast better. Everyone else we met was friendly and helpful too, and the whole property was spotless. The hotel has a calm, private feel because it’s made up of smaller “houses,” each with four rooms, instead of one large building. Our room was bright, spacious, and well equipped. The Christmas decorations made the place feel especially cozy and welcoming. The location is convenient for getting around, with major shopping centers and the Premium Outlets nearby. The hotel sits beside a golf course, and the view from the breakfast area is relaxing. It’s also close to the highway, though the surroundings stay surprisingly quiet. We had a fantastic stay at Staybridge Suites Oxnard – River Ridge and would absolutely return.

The loft suite was nice, but even a small step around upstairs makes quite a bit of noise. The bathroom light is motion activated and extremely bright, so it can really startle you in the middle of the night. Apparently there’s no way to switch it off. A less bright mirror light on the sensor might be better. Breakfast was a decent size, but they seemed a bit unprepared for the crowd on the first day. The juice machine was empty, the bacon ran out, and people were scraping up the last scraps before the oatmeal ran out too. Day two was better, though someone was checking names and room numbers. By day three it was much less crowded and fine.
