The room had two beds and plenty of space, with a table and chairs in the kitchen area. The bathroom was also large and had a huge walk-in shower. Front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. I hadn’t visited this area before, but I hope to return and stay here again.

My family travels often for my two daughters’ competitive cheer events, and we’ve usually had great stays with Hilton/hampton. This cancellation experience was completely different. I booked through Expedia, then the cheer organizer canceled the competition because of the storm headed toward Washington. It was under 72 hours before the stay, so I expected a cancellation fee. But after three days of back and forth, I got a different answer every time. First, they said we’d get a refund minus the fee. Then they said the fee would be waived if Expedia called, though Expedia had told me I needed to call the hotel. Four hotel employees told me we’d get a refund because of the weather, but now I’m being told no. I also can’t reach the manager, Capria, after several attempts. Since I booked through Expedia, I can’t speak directly to the hotel staff; I was told to have Expedia contact Capria, but now she isn’t responding to them either. I understand they’re likely swamped with storm cancellations and that there’s a policy. But some parents from our gym got refunds approved by the manager while others in the same situation got denials and no answers to messages or emails. It’s unacceptable. Our team’s parents usually book with these hotel lines, but after this I’m not sure how many will feel comfortable doing so. We spent a lot on three nights, even those who got refunds. I don’t want to wonder whether next time I’ll be the one told no while others are told yes.

A lovely hotel with great staff, right next to the Gaylord conference center. It’s a great spot for a Stay-Cation in the DC area, with easy access to the MGM and Tanger Outlet mall. There’s also a good range of nearby dining options, plus the Ferris Wheel.

I booked a two-night stay online, and a message appeared right after booking that the pool was closed for maintenance. I called within five minutes to confirm, then canceled because the pool was the only reason I’d picked this hotel. A few days later, my card was charged for one night. The hotel said it was because I canceled so close to the reservation date. I explained that I’d called within five minutes of booking, but the manager still hasn’t called me back or adjusted the charge. I’ve just returned from my holiday and will call again on Monday. I can afford two hotel rooms for one night, but this isn’t something I wanted to have to remember to sort out during the holidays.
