Travelodge by Wyndham Ozona

We were on the road late and only wanted a place to sleep, but we ran out with our four-year-old daughter before we could even settle in. My husband doesn't believe in the paranormal, yet he was staring at me when the shower started running and told me to grab everything and go. I checked the rooms on both sides and no one was staying there. I hoped the noises and shower were some kind of prank. The eerie feeling was awful, and there was nobody at the front desk or anywhere around. The bedroom was about what you'd expect for the price; I covered the bed with my own things so our child could lie on it. I wouldn't stay again.

The room was clean, the AC worked well, and the bed was comfortable. Check-in was easy, and the clerk, who might have been the owner, was very nice. The price was reasonable, and I felt I got my money's worth for a quick overnight stop. I highly recommend this place.

The main room lights in room #118 didn't work, so the bedside lamps were the only lighting and it was very dark. The pillows felt hard as cardboard, and the ice machines were out of order; we were told we could buy ice at the front desk. I have a service dog, but staff asked me for certification papers as proof and then downgraded our reserved room because they treated the dog as a pet. I believe both actions went against ADA requirements. While addressing the service dog, the person at the desk spoke English to me but had a side conversation with a younger man in another language, though they both seemed to speak English well. It felt rude and as if they were using the conversation to hide what they were saying. This is the worst motel I've stayed in, despite having been in many Wyndham and other chain motels.

Nasty and dirty, with false advertising and rude staff. We struggled to get there during a storm over Easter weekend, arrived around midnight, and left seven minutes later. I was going to put up with the odor and dust for one night, but the big roach in the room was the last straw. The manager argued that nobody had ever complained about dirty rooms, despite reviews before mine and the low rating. We found another hotel, and it happened to be lovely.
