Lighthouse Inn

We’d absolutely stay here again. The hotel is gorgeous, with beautiful decor, cute bathroom products, and a room and bedding that smelled amazing. Everything was super clean, and the door code made check-in very easy. It was a great value and within walking distance of lots of good restaurants in Port Isabel. The lighthouse view was lovely too.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I want other travelers to know what happened. The bedding was very sparse, just thin sheets and what felt like another sheet for a comforter, and the stay wasn’t restful. There seemed to be long-term residents, and loud music, parties and other disruptions went on through the night. I called the front desk twice, but the noise continued. From the moment I arrived, I didn’t feel safe. I couldn’t make myself go outside in the dark, so I waited for sunrise, collected my things and left as quickly as I could. I explained the situation at checkout. The manager was polite, but nothing was done about it, and I was charged for the night even though I didn’t stay. On my way out of town, I mentioned where I’d been staying at a local coffee shop. The reaction was immediate, and a nearby resort kindly found me a last-minute room. The difference in safety, comfort and professionalism was significant. The property did seem clean, so it may suit someone whose main concern is budget. If you want somewhere safe, quiet and comfortable, I’d strongly suggest looking at other options.

We had a good time on our girls’ trip. The place was clean, people were kind, and there was enough space for us. Noise didn’t bother us. I would recommend staying here, but watch out for the $75 security deposit: even though we left the room picked up with trash and towels piled together, the property still tried to keep it.

The bed was comfortable, and the three pillows were just right, not too hard, soft, flat or full. The room was mostly clean, though I wiped down a few surfaces myself to be sure. The old white towels looked very dingy, so at minimum I’d bring washcloths. If you’re fussy, bring your own body towels and pillowcases too. It’s a basic coastal motel, maybe a solid two stars. The walls are paper thin. There’s a mini hair dryer, but no tissues, lamps, iron or ironing board. The only table is very small and comes with one chair. Wi-Fi is available, but the security seemed weak, so I didn’t use it. The TV guide listed more channels than I could find by scrolling, though someone tech-savvy might be able to connect a Fire Stick or similar. The king bed was comfy. The AC worked, but the heater seemed unreliable. Since it never got below 50, I didn’t find out how unreliable it was. The shower water only got just hot enough at the highest setting. Bring a plug if you want to take a bath, and your own toiletries since there’s very little provided. By the bathroom sink, a short metal rod on the wall is the closet, but there are no hangers. There’s a mini fridge and microwave, which are handy. No coffee maker, so bring one or perhaps try the breakfast they offer in the morning. I never went in for breakfast.
