Thanksgiving night was when we finally left. After coming back from family gatherings, we found a roach on my fiancé’s toothbrush. We killed it and flushed it, then less than ten minutes later I noticed a brown spot on my finger while we were on the bed. It was a bed bug. I panicked and shook it off. We packed up and got out. Now the bites are appearing on my neck and arm. We spent two nights there, and I’m worried we were being bitten the whole time. On the drive home I was praying we wouldn’t bring any bed bugs home, and we’re taking precautions. The room had smelled musty from the start, but we had two large dogs and thought we had no other options in the area because places like the Hilton have weight limits. We were visiting family for Thanksgiving, so we put up with it. The shower was broken and wouldn’t shut off fully. The steady water had left rust marks on the tub and buildup on the faucet, so we showered at our family’s homes instead. There were other problems too. The back hallway door didn’t close properly, even though it was supposed to need a key card, so anyone could get into the hotel that way. There was a large uncovered hole where the sink plumbing entered the wall and an outlet missing its cover. At the time, those didn’t seem like the end of the world. We stayed from Tuesday, November 25, 2025 until we rushed out just before midnight on Thanksgiving. I regret booking this place and wish I’d booked the hotel we went to after leaving. I didn’t notice a posted health inspection score or sign, and I can’t see how the property should be operating in this condition. It was disgusting and bewildering that it was allowed to stay open. This is the first bad experience I’ve had at a Red Roof Inn, but it was so awful I’ll never stay at another Red Roof Inn.
