Scenic View Inn - Lake Powell - Page AZ

The view from my room made the stay feel special, and getting around was easy with attractions close by. Staff were welcoming and helpful throughout. I’d happily come back and recommend this hotel for a getaway.

We arrived to check in at 3:00 and were told housekeeping needed another 10-15 minutes. We were handed a key right away anyway. The room hadn't been vacuumed and looked worn. It was clearly showing its age. Breakfast was a mess. Staff said it started at 7, while a sign said 6. At 7:10 there were no protein options, just burnt scrambled eggs, stale potatoes, and waffles we could make ourselves. We were told they weren't cooking anything else that day, despite breakfast supposedly running until 10. One buffet staff member said she would put out yogurt, then another told her not to bother. There wasn't even enough food for the first hour and fifteen minutes. A cockroach ran past me in the dining room while I was writing this. During the stay, maintenance shut off the hotel's water without warning, so the toilet couldn't be flushed. Rain also came through the ceiling, and buckets were left on the stairs to catch it. There was no wet floor sign, and water had splashed across the metal steps. The fire doors were propped open, too. The place gave me the impression it was set up to fail. It seems like someone put primer on the walls and hired the cheapest staff to get the last money out of the building. Don't expect a modern room, warm service, or a reliable breakfast. This is a stain on the Choice Hotels brand.

The view was gorgeous, especially at sunset, and everything I needed was just a short walk away. Every staff member was attentive and friendly, and they really made an effort to keep my visit comfortable. I had a great stay and would definitely recommend it.

The location is fantastic, but the hotel feels dated and probably used to be much nicer. Our room was okay, though the beds and bathroom need work, and there weren't any towels. The Wi-Fi was terrible, and we had service issues even after the front desk guy gave me the desk's Wi-Fi password.
