Alpine Inn of Pagosa Springs

The room was a good fit for two, with a comfortable mattress, clean linens, and working basics like a coffee pot, microwave, fridge, lamps, and TV. It was clean when we arrived, and the carpet looked new. The owners have clearly put a lot of work into restoring this small, quaint, homey inn, which feels like it has welcomed travelers for decades. Staff were personable and gave the place a family feel. Breakfast was the usual continental spread, including cereal, yogurt, fruit, toast, instant oatmeal, coffee, juice, muffins, and a bit more. It seems they’re still making improvements, and I’d gladly stay again.

We got to town ahead of schedule because of the weather, and the staff were friendly and flexible with us. It’s a cute little hotel with a nice breakfast, and a comfortable place to sleep if you’re in town to ski.

The way guests are treated and spoken to really needs work. Service was terrible, and the staff didn’t seem to know how to look after guests properly. Breakfast was very poor, and be careful using the microwave because they get upset about it. I’d choose a hotel with better-trained staff instead.

After totaling my truck just outside Pagosa Springs around 2 a.m. on the drive back from Arizona, I couldn’t get help at the hotel across the street, and they wouldn’t let me sleep inside. I came here and nodded off in a chair in the main lobby. Someone found me early in the morning and offered me a room that had been vacated but wasn’t due to be cleaned yet. They let me sleep there for a few hours for free, and I’m so grateful. The room was very nice. Highly recommend.
