Best Western Pahrump Oasis

The location was handy, and the grounds looked attractive and cared for. We were only there for one night, and the weather wasn't suitable for spending time outside. I've stayed at Best Westerns across the country for decades, usually with good experiences, but this one was a real letdown. The room had several problems. The dresser looked beat up, though its drawers worked fine. The fridge rattled loudly whenever its compressor ran, and the heater was noisy even on low. Other recent reviews mention the same heating and cooling noise, so it seems our room wasn't the only one with that issue. The tub stopper was broken, which didn't affect showering, but ruled out the bath I'd been thinking about. The hot water plumbing seemed to have been worked on recently: we had to run the tub faucet for more than 10 minutes to get the air out and enough hot water for a shower. The thing that bothered us most was finding greasy head-shaped marks on both the headboard and the back of the easy chair. The lighting wasn't right for a photo of the headboard, but there was one of the chair. My husband is usually more tolerant of this kind of thing than I am, yet he immediately cleaned the headboard with a soapy washcloth before either of us would sit or lie on the bed. This place needs repairs and updates. Staff apologized when we raised the problems at checkout, but didn't offer any compensation. I might have pushed the issue further if my expenses weren't being reimbursed. Would we come back? No.

The breakfast staff were especially welcoming, and the front desk receptionist was very friendly too. My room was clean and roomy. I enjoyed my stay, everything was great. Thank you!

Breakfast was decent, and that's the only good thing I can say about the stay. The heater in my room sounded like a generator when it was on, and I could hear nearby guests using water loudly through the plumbing. The website photos also looked completely unlike the place in person. I picked this hotel partly because it advertised EV charging in the parking lot, but the charger didn't work when I tried it. At the desk I was told charging would cost $25, something that hadn't been clearly explained beforehand. That felt misleading. I've stayed at nearly 10 different Best Western hotels, and this was easily the worst. I can't understand its 4+ rating, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. If Google allowed zero stars, that's what I'd give.

The rooms were clean and the AC worked well. The pool has been newly renovated, but there's no lift for disabled guests, and there's a small 1-2 inch lip at the entrance to the pool area. The breakfast room is mostly accessible, with a few bar-height tables and some regular-height ones. The counters are a little too high, though the staff were friendly and happy to help. There are automatic door buttons at the main lobby entrance. The outside one is perfectly placed, but a plant blocked the inside button. I asked yesterday for it to be moved, and it was still there at checkout, so I moved it myself before leaving. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE IT BACK. A wheelchair user needs clear space in front of that button to pull up and reach it, otherwise it's not much use. There's also a ramp with handrails up to the lobby. The doors are very heavy, and our room door swung shut dangerously fast. It nearly caught me a couple of times.
