Holiday Inn Express & Suites Pampa by IHG

We booked about 12 rooms for a wedding at a great nearby venue and got a pretty good rate using points. The staff were kind and helpful when people asked to switch rooms, and the manager asked us for a list of issues on the second day, saying a maintenance man was there to work on them. Two room changes were granted, one because the air conditioner didn't work and one because the shower didn't. All the rooms were clean, though most weren't ready at check-in. The pool closure had been mentioned in our confirmation emails, and the elevator shook a little. There were plenty of small maintenance problems: the washer and dryer were out of order, snack vending worked but there were no drinks, including water, and ice machines on some floors were broken. Milk was available in the breakfast fridge all day. Wifi didn't work on day one but was fixed the next morning, and a couple of roof spots were missing shingles. It seems like they may lack a full-time maintenance person or staff; most issues were minor, and some people got great rooms with nothing major wrong. One room only had a broken alarm clock, and we all have phones for that.

We've got a service dog here, and it's kid friendly. Breakfast is good, the place is clean and spacious, and there are no bugs. It's a little pricey, though. The PTAC on high feels like it's on low, and they need a maintenance crew that knows how to do proper repairs. There's too much stuff packed into every corner. They should add a patio where people can sunbathe, and keep someone at the front desk all the time. I never saw anyone there, and it feels like they don't care about guests. I'm here for another three months.

It was a very average stay. The building shows its age, the service was just okay, and breakfast was fine. The staff weren't rude, but they weren't especially welcoming either. At least there were no strange smells, or I'd have felt differently. I could have paid more somewhere else and maybe gotten better service, but that's hard to know. I wouldn't tell anyone to avoid this place, just to keep their expectations in check.

At check-in things seemed okay, but during our stay the heater, TV, and phone didn't work. We had asked for a room for a disabled person, yet the shower head was broken and wouldn't stay up. The shower design was the one thing I can compliment, since padded shower benches are hard to find.
