My girlfriend and I stayed here one night a few months ago. Early the next morning, two Spanish-speaking men claimed to be housekeeping and tried to open our door. I kept shouting that we were inside, but they opened it anyway. Fortunately, the top latch stopped them. I jumped out of bed in time to push the door shut and secure it with the manual safety lock too. Looking back, I don’t think they were actually housekeeping. It’s a kidnapping tactic for two men to claim that and try to get into a room, where they could do whatever they wanted if they got in. We’d never stay here again. Spend the extra $50 for one of the hotels across the way if you want to be safe. If you do stay here, don’t let anyone see into your room, even through a crack. At the very least, secure the door whenever you’re inside. Better yet, have something to defend yourself.

I’m a Catholic man, a man of color, and disabled on crutches. I’m on workers’ comp with a set income. I’d relocated back to Sacramento from Southern California, came in by train and bus, and got dropped off by Lyft. Right away I had trouble with my credit card being declined for my two-week Booking.com reservation, for whatever reason. After several tries, I sat frustrated for about 30 minutes. The guy suggested I book one night instead of two weeks, so I did. He charged me $129 for the Thursday night and another $100 deposit. Calls from the room cost $1 each, even when they didn’t go through. The next morning, I went to the office to dispute the charge and ask for credit. The lady argued with me for five minutes. I walked away. When I checked out, the same women were in the office and were rude. They didn’t say much, and they didn’t return my deposit. The room was one star. The light fixtures didn’t work, I saw baby roaches here and there, and there was public hair all over the bathroom. There were also weirdos sitting in cars watching you. Don’t waste your money.

This place was filthy, with roaches everywhere, plus mice and rats. You could hear them squeaking and running in the walls. The housekeepers are lazy and don’t clean. The manager has a rude, stank attitude, though the workers are positive and pleasant. It’s still a very shabby establishment, like staying in a trap house. Save your money and go somewhere else. It’s not worth it unless this is your last resort.

The room was terrible: a filthy tub, stained comforter, broken dresser, and a deadbolt that wouldn’t lock. Outside smelled like weed, and some transients were roaming around. I asked for a refund because of the room’s condition, as shown in the pictures. The service itself was fantastic. Tyria and Amanda were friendly and understanding, and gave amazing customer service even after I requested a refund.

Ian was the definition of hospitable, attentive to what I might need and on top of follow-up. Freddie, the maintenance man, was courteous, friendly, and quick. I had one problem and he fixed it within an hour, then came back to make sure it was actually resolved and not just a temporary fix. The rooms were nice, and the staff were polite and professional. The noise upstairs was like a family of wild Clydesdales, and the group next door sounded like a Jerry Springer audience rehearsing. I’d stay again, but I’ll choose an upstairs corner room next time.
