Creekside Hotel Parkville

There were plenty of rooms open even late at night, and check-in service was great. At checkout, though, the attendant was smoking weed, and the whole lobby smelled like it. It took him a minute to get me checked out, and I just wanted to be on my way. I thought this was supposed to be a smoke-free hotel. 🤔

I love staying here. Phil is great with customer service when I check in early in the morning, and the rooms are always clean and cozy. I’ll be back!

The hotel and service are great, and being a little out of the way actually suits me. The breakfast hours are tough if you work early, though. It’d be nice if they had a few simple breakfast items available outside the cafeteria.

I usually count on Holiday Inn Express hotels for comfortable stays and polite, dependable service, but this visit was a real exception. The location wasn’t convenient for the airport, and the staff I dealt with were rude and unhelpful, and didn’t seem well trained. I had trouble checking in with my Hotels.com reservation, couldn’t use cash to buy an ice cream, and missed breakfast. When I asked whether it was over, a staff member laughed about me missing it. The bigger problem was my card, which was held for incidentals, getting charged again for the night after I’d already paid. I called the next day and was told that was normal and the charge wouldn’t go through. It did, and a week later I still hadn’t received a refund. The General Manager, Stephen, said I’d been rude to his staff and that waiting up to 5 days for a refund was normal. He said he’d email the refund details, then hung up. This fell well short of the IHG customer service I’m used to and wasn’t the experience I expected.
