La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Pasadena

UPDATE 9/12: After a month, I finally got my deposit back. My bank hadn’t held up the funds or slowed anything down. The hotel didn’t issue the refund until 21 days later, as they said. Why did it take so long? Their response was, “We're sorry for the inconvenience, is there anything else we can fo for you?” It felt unprofessional. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else. I believe the property deleted my original review. It had been four weeks since my stay, and the deposit still hadn’t been returned. The room was dirty and stunk. The TV and remote were greasy, and the TV was unplugged at the back. When I moved it to find the cable, there was trash, food, and empty cans of foil paper with food behind the entertainment center. I checked out the next morning, and the front desk said my $150 deposit would come back in 3 to 7 business days. Four weeks later, I still had nothing. I contacted La Quinta Inn Wyndham Resorts, who gave me a reference number, and tried to reach the property managers, but no one answered by day or night. The issue was still unresolved when I wrote this. I’ll update if and when that changes. What an inconvenience. Find somewhere else.

The room smelled like dog pee as soon as we entered, and the family was unhappy with the stay. The AC was running, but sometime in the night the room got hot and stuffy. Shower pressure was low, so washing up took longer than it should have. The pool was closed and looked like a swamp. We’d packed extra clothes for the kids and they’d been looking forward to swimming on our family vacation before going back to school, but they couldn’t. The website clearly said there was a pool. The lobby sign was hidden, so we didn’t find out until we went to the pool door and saw the closure notice. They need to say online when it’s out of service. The fitness center was closed too. The elevator needs checking. Some buttons were popped out, and the doors nearly closed on my husband as he walked through, without stopping before they almost crushed him. Our neighbors had a dog that barked for 10 minutes whenever we made even a little noise, at 11 or 12 at night. There are no vending machines or ice machines on the upper floors, so you have to go to the lobby for both. The parking lot was dark compared with the brightly lit hotels nearby. We mentioned the lights to the front desk, but they said they were on and just dim. We had to use our phones to see outside. My family was not happy at all.

The room was cozy, comfortable, and clean. My daughter and I stayed two nights with our dogs, and the women at reception were incredibly sweet and helpful. I’d recommend the place, and we’ll stay again on our next trip to Pasadena.

There was no internet for my entire stay. At check-in, the receptionist said it was currently down and the manager knew about it. The pool and hot tub were closed, and so was the exercise room. At night the empty parking lot was dark, while the other hotels around had cars and lights. There isn’t even a sign on the building. They’re cutting corners everywhere. I’d look elsewhere.
