The spa was the highlight for me. It felt relaxing without being overly formal, and was worth the money. We ate breakfast and dinner at Cello, and breakfast was the better of the two. The pool area was quiet and comfortable, with plenty of good places to sit in the sun. The location off Highway 46 makes it convenient for getting around Paso. The whole idea brings together Italy, wine country, fine dining, spa luxury, and resort living, and the concept is strong. But the cost didn’t quite match the value. At this price, I expected a more first-class resort experience, closer to what you might find nearer downtown.

I ended my ten-day road trip here, and a little luxury was a lovely way to finish. The vineyard and hotel are beautiful, with spacious, clean rooms and friendly, helpful staff throughout. Chase Rivers and Greg, the bellhops, were especially welcoming. There’s a small petting zoo with llamas and goats you can feed and pet through the fence. Ask the bellhops and they’ll give you a cup of food. Free bikes are available too, and exploring the grounds and vineyard on one was fun in the right weather. We brought back food from a good Mexican restaurant we found and ate in the main courtyard, which has lots of seating so guests don’t feel crowded. The hotel restaurant is extremely good too if you don’t feel like driving around to find food. The pool area has plenty of seating and towels, and you can reserve a private cabana. There was lots to enjoy, and it definitely had a bit of a Tuscan vibe.

We’ve eaten at Cello Ristorante & Bar even when we weren’t staying at Allegretto Vineyard Resort, and every meal has been enjoyable. The food and service there are consistently excellent. On this recent stay, the friendly, helpful staff made us feel welcome throughout. It’s a convenient base for wineries, Vina Robles Amphitheatre for concerts, Sensorio, and the shops and restaurants in downtown Paso Robles, all a short drive away. The Italian architecture and atmosphere feel like stepping into another place. Add the vineyard views, well-kept grounds, and nicely appointed rooms, and it makes for a relaxing, memorable stay. The property is beautiful in the day and at night. My wife and I are already looking forward to coming back.

The grounds have so much to do, from games and walking trails to fire pits and alpaca feedings. We had breakfast at Cello, and it was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it’s only a five-minute drive to downtown Paso and the east 46 wineries. Our room was beautiful and made the stay feel special. This is a lovely choice near Paso wine country, especially for a special occasion. I’d love to return and try dinner there too.

We ate at Cello both nights, and the portions were decent. The food was delicious, especially the carbonara, and I also enjoyed the Belgium waffle at breakfast. I used the gym on our last morning. There’s a washer and dryer, though I didn’t get to use them, and daytime wine tasting was available, but we didn’t try it. We drove to Daou for a tasting instead, which wasn’t far. Our first-floor room was roomy, with a double vanity, spacious shower, comfortable bed, and a nice robe and slippers. It also had a cute back patio with a path out to the pool. The pool was a perfect size, with a jacuzzi in the corner. Around the property there’s a courtyard with a couple of fire pits, plus another fire pit near the front, bocci ball, cornhole, horse shoes, and a little hike. It’s a beautiful resort, and I’d happily stay again.
