Stables Inn

The Stables was a lovely spot for our long weekend in Paso Robles, and downtown was just a 10-minute walk away. Our room was cozy and modern, though on the small side. We appreciated the thoughtful touches, especially the s’mores kits for enjoying by the fire. We wouldn’t choose room 5 again: there was a constant noise from the storage or boiler room overnight. They did offer to move us once another room became available.

The location is convenient, and you can walk to everything in downtown Paso Robles. Check-in was quick and pleasant, and the AC was quiet. But the room felt overpriced for what you get. I chose the place to try somewhere new, and it was a one-and-done stay. Parking was only so-so, and anyone with a larger vehicle might want to arrive early. The room was banged up: scuffs on the walls, a headboard partly torn from the wall that squeaked, and a missing shower floor tile. I also found a handful of long black hairs on the bathroom floor that definitely weren’t mine. Noise was the biggest problem. The old buildings aren’t insulated, so parking lot sounds carry in, and you can hear conversations from neighboring rooms. Avoid rooms 4 and 5, where the maintenance and housekeeping area between them gets noisy in the mornings. Housekeeping also banged around loudly. If you sleep in or are sensitive to noise, this place may not work for you. You can find better deals within walking distance of downtown, though that’s the Central Coast for you.

A lovely place for the first night of our southwest road trip. The rooms were beautifully decorated and really comfortable, and the staff were great. Shops and places to eat are within walking distance. What a good find. 👍

The room was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We only spent one night at The Stables Inn, but had a great time. The whole place is nice and in a great location for walking to restaurants. I’d happily stay again and recommend it to others.
