The room itself was better than a lot of the options around Jackson, and I’d consider coming back for the location. But I’d check online rates first. During HBCU homecoming, I was charged an extra $25 a night for the first two nights, and it looked like booking online would have cost less. Rates can change, but I’d like more transparency, especially as someone who travels often. I stayed at the Quality Inn & Suites in Pearl–Jackson October 10th to the 13th. The bed was made on my last night, but the room wasn’t properly cleaned during the stay. Trash and other things were left alone for several days. That was disappointing given what I paid that weekend. After getting home, I also saw that the hotel had put four holds on my bank card for the room. It wasn’t a credit card.

I felt safe and comfortable here, and the room had what I needed for a good night’s sleep. It was clean, quiet, and had comfortable beds, good pillows, working A/C, blackout curtains, and a very cold, larger mini fridge with a freezer compartment that could refreeze ice packs. The shower was hot with plenty of pressure. The newer carpet and paint looked like they might be a year or so old. There was a standard hot breakfast, though we skipped it because we had lunch plans, and hot coffee was in the lobby all day and night. I’d have preferred shower gel over bar soap, but it was just one night and there was soap to use. I picked this place for an overnight event in Jackson. I was looking for a safe area because of Jackson’s reputation for crime, and this location fit. The event was downtown, but getting onto I-55/20 west was easy. It’s just off I-20 and about a five minute drive from the airport. I booked direct through the App for $77 a night with the first floor senior discount. There were more amenities like food and shopping in east Pearl, but those hotels cost a little more. Around this one, the food choices were Waffle House and two gas stations, Circle K and texaco, and I didn’t see vagrants or anyone sketchy. Parking is limited, as people say, though there are more spaces in back that could fit a few trucks with trailers if the hotel isn’t full. Maybe an extra long trailer could park at Texaco next door. I usually stay at IHG hotels for points, but this was a work trip and I wanted to be near my associates. If you’re flying out the next morning or traveling on I-20 and need an affordable, clean, comfortable place, this worked well for me. I didn’t see a shuttle van, so I can’t say if they have one. I didn’t find the flaws some reviewers mention, like hair in the tub, bugs, or chipped paint, though I know you can find something wrong in even an expensive hotel if you go looking. I travel a lot, and this hotel checked my boxes.

The lot is cramped if you bring a large vehicle or trailer, and I noticed a couple of small cosmetic problems, including peeling paint on the bathroom door and discolored floor grout. Still, I’d stay here again if I were in the area. I was there for four nights. The room was clean and cool when I arrived, with the air conditioning already on and no odd smell. Staff were polite at check-in. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the bed was made each day. I had hot water every time I showered, and fresh towels were left daily. The refrigerator and microwave both worked as they should.

My stay was extremely unpleasant. I experienced bed bugs, and the room wasn’t maintained properly. Most of the rooms smell bad too, from what I found. This is a serious hygiene problem that needs urgent attention. Be cautious if you’re thinking of staying here.

The beds were nice, and breakfast is free. If the food there doesn’t suit you, there’s a Waffle House across the street. The place has modern renovations, too. If you’re after the cheapest decent place to stay, this fits, and I’d come back.
