Howard Johnson by Wyndham Pecos

A good spot to stop after a long trip. The staff were kind, friendly, and quick to respond. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the heater worked great, and the Wi-Fi connection was good.

I feel safe staying here with my baby, especially after a terrible experience down the road. I’m in town several times a month with my two-year-old daughter, and this place feels like a home away from home. The staff are great, the rooms are comfortable, and there’s some lovely remodeling underway. They sell snacks at the front desk, and prices are reasonable even in the middle of summer. A hidden gem in Pecos, and I always stay here when I’m in town.

The room clearly hadn’t been cleaned. There was crust on the comforter, short dark hairs on the pillows, and a soiled toilet. I slept under my own comforter and left after a few hours. I’m really disappointed in the quality and expected much more. I pass through Pecos for work and usually use a dog-friendly hotel, but it was booked, so I tried this one. I told the clerk I had dogs and he gave me a room. The price was $15 above what I’d seen online, but I was tired and didn’t argue. Later he came back to say he’d forgotten the dog charge and needed my card again, another $20. That part wasn’t a big deal by itself.

The staff were very nice, but the bathroom was rough. The tub and toilet were stained and looked dirty, so I told my family to wear slides in the shower. We were glad it was just one night. I was shocked at the condition for a Wyndham hotel.
