Garden Inn & Suites

The location was fine, but the people at the property weren’t. It seemed like everyone at the hotel was on some kind of substance. The rooms were DISGUSTING and nothing like the pictures: falling apart, covered in stains of different colors, and with mold everywhere. The smell was so bad I wouldn’t even bring my 2 year old inside. My friend said her child found needles and pills in their room. I went to the desk after seeing the room and asked for a refund. The staff member said he gave me one, but a week later I still haven’t gotten my money back. The website photos must be from when the property opened 30 years ago. A chunk of the roof was missing and covered with tarp, which should’ve been my first warning when I pulled up. Save your $100 and go to a motel 6 or red roof in, or buy a tent from walmart. Anywhere but garden inn. NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!!!

The front desk lady is a sweetheart, and that’s about the only good thing I can say. The room smelled strange despite being marked non-smoking, and we had bugs and nats in there. One bed was broken, there was mold in the bathroom ceiling and air conditioning vent, and rust in the bathroom vent and fridge. The floors hadn’t been swept, and the sheets were never changed. Don’t stay here unless all you want is a place to party.

It’s cheap, dog friendly, and has truck parking. Nothing fancy, just does the job. I got to look at the room before booking to check for bed bugs, and there weren’t any. I’m allergic, so I’d know. The room stayed nice and cold and had a mini fridge. For a pet friendly hotel with truck parking in pensacola, it isn’t too bad.

Housekeeping came each morning with fresh towels, made the bed, and took my trash. The staff also helped quickly when I had to switch rooms because the first one’s AC wasn’t working. It isn’t a fancy hotel, and the rooms aren’t the best, but they seem to have done what they could with what they had, and they treat you well. There are a few small inconveniences. The mini fridge was small and had no shelves, and the microwave was smaller than normal, making a plate of food hard to fit. The Wi-Fi came and went in my room, possibly because it was in the far back, so I used my mobile hotspot for a steadier connection. There were few outlets, and the ones available were in odd or out of the way places. I had to move the table to plug in my computer. There wasn’t an outlet by the bed, so I slept with my head at the foot of it to keep my phone close for alarms. I’d bring an extension cable just in case.
