Sole Inn and Suites

I booked at the sole inn more than 100 days ahead so I could drive in from out of town for the Gulf Coast Arts Festival in November. Then, just 13 days before check-in, I got a call saying renovations were about to start and my reservation had been canceled. They offered no referral or help finding somewhere else to stay. I was told this wasn't emergency repair work or storm damage remediation, just a renovation scheduled right before one of the area's annual keystone events. It looked like a cool place, but I'll never patronize a hotel that leaves you stranded literally at the last minute without offering help.

The staff are amazing, and everything was very clean. Right in the heart of downtown Pensacola, this small corner lot is surrounded by the things that make Pensacola a tourist destination. There are 3 floors, an elevator, and outdoor entrances to all the rooms. The patio with its gazebo and fountain is beautiful. Happy hour runs daily from 5 to 7, with free beer and wine plus chips and salsa.

Eugene went above and beyond when we had trouble with snacks and our room key. It's a great place to stay with family. I'd give it a 10 star rating if I could.

If zero stars were an option, that's what I'd give. Our first encounter at the property was a homeless man collecting cans beside the elevator. The room felt like an old, outdated motel, so we immediately booked at the Holiday Inn instead. I know the reviews are good, but that wasn't our experience. I wouldn't recommend this place.
