The other cleaning team members were great, but Dorothy and another woman were extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. Dorothy came up to my own vehicle, which was listed on my room, and verbally abused, judged, and discriminated against me as a paying guest. I’d already verified my room, but she kept interrupting me and asked condescendingly, “Do you have a right to be here?” She wouldn’t listen, then walked away laughing and snickering at me and my coworker like children. I’d been there for a three-day stay and had stripped the beds and piled the things up, and bagged and neatly stacked my trash before leaving. I left the room cleaner than when I got there.

The renovation had the whole bottom floor closed off, so we had to work around materials to get to the pool and front desk. The bar and restaurant were being used to store construction supplies. There were no pool towels at the pool or desk, and the pool looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Breakfast was just cereal and bread items. Our window faced large dumpsters overflowing with garbage, and the nearby train tracks made it noisy.

I needed an affordable place near Surprise, AZ, and this was the best option I found for four days. The parking lot was roomy, with plenty of spaces, and the staff I met were pleasant, especially the woman who checked us in. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, and I had no pest problems. Still, the hallway smelled like pee or an old building. My first room smelled fine, but after its key reader broke or something, I was moved down the hall on day two to a room with an unpleasant smell I can’t really describe. Its A/C made a loud, strange noise whenever it stopped, which wasn’t nice at night, and people talked loudly in the halls around midnight to 2 am. The included “breakfast” was light snacks like muffins, yogurt, and waffles, sometimes with microwaveable breakfast sandwiches. The stay was fine, nothing too bad.

The lobby had a great feel and the staff were really helpful, which changed my mind after seeing the outside and noticing it’s off Grand Ave. My room was beautiful, and I was pleasantly surprised when I got there. It’s a good-priced place I’d recommend to anyone who needs somewhere to stay. I definitely didn’t want to check out.
