Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Philadelphia MS

We had room 118 for one night. It was quiet, we felt safe, and the staff were so sweet. Breakfast had waffles, biscuits and gravy, cereal, breads, juice, and coffee. The bed was so hard and squeaky it felt like sleeping on the floor. There was water on the floor when we arrived, cigarette burns on the bathroom counter, and stained towels. I usually bring my own towels. The place smelled clean, just old. It was okay for a one-night stay.

I can’t stay anywhere with roaches, fancy or not. They’re a health and hygiene issue, and this room was infested. I paid the higher holiday rate of $99 and at least expected not to find a whole family of them. Big, shiny black roaches crawled out of the sink and across the shower wall, and baby ones were on the bathroom ceiling. On my way to the casino, I called the office to report it and asked to move rooms. No one called back. The casino and another local hotel were booked, so I ended up returning to the roach room and didn’t sleep. At daylight, I took my suitcase outside, shook out all my clothes, and packed to leave. My husband showed the staff the pictures and told them again, but they didn’t seem bothered. One staff member said she’d get her spray.

First and last time I’ll stay at an Econo Lodge Inn. The place is old, with outdated furniture, and the room that housekeeping was supposed to clean was filthy. Towels hadn’t been washed, the bathroom was dirty, floors hadn’t been swept or mopped, and there was trash all over. I had to go buy cleaning supplies and a sheet set for the bed. No pictures needed, believe me, don’t stay at this one in Philadelphia Mississippi. It needs a remodeling makeover.

For a safe, clean, comfortable stay, you’d be better off getting arrested than staying at the Econo lodge. My feet turned black from the filthy floor, and the shower was too disgusting to wash them in.
