The staff were wonderful, and we were welcomed like we'd come home. Everything was clean, and our shower looked untouched. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the cutest downtown, the convention center, and the marketplace. This will be my go-to hotel in Philly. Thanks to all the kind, welcoming staff.
A hotel block can shape the wedding guests' experience before the big day, and the team at this Fairfield made a lasting positive impression on us as bride and groom. Austin Dyees and Malik Bonney led the way, with help from Ta’jal, Tim, Letitia, Lauren, Brian (Maintenance), John, Jihad, Quamir, and many others working behind the scenes. They made our stay and our guests' stay comfortable, with service that went above and beyond. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and a great base for more than 20 couples traveling in from out of town. Our other hotel block was a major disappointment, so it was reassuring to know the Fairfield team was ready to make our experience wonderful. The block rate was also incredible, especially just after the NYE holiday. We're very grateful and definitely recommend staying here.
John was especially helpful, taking care of everything at breakfast and sharing an interesting story about this historic building. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We spent a long weekend visiting family here. The building and rooms were nicely decorated and very clean, and the location made it easy to walk to attractions, restaurants, and shops. Looking forward to coming back.
For our first trip to the city, my friend and I wanted an affordable, basic place that felt clean and safe. We were two young women traveling on a budget, and this worked for us. I read plenty of reviews before booking, and some expectations seemed unrealistic. During an event, this was one of the cheapest reasonably located hotels I could find. The room was small, but that was all we needed. There wasn't a lot of room around the king bed, though it didn't feel cramped, and the bathroom was nice. The bed was very comfortable. The area seemed good, and the convention center was walkable. There were lots of police around, possibly because of the event. The desk staff were friendly and down to earth, which made a great first impression. We felt mostly safe, but the deadbolt was jammed and we couldn't use it. The key card locks the door automatically, and there was also a latch that didn't do much but offered a little reassurance. We didn't tell the front desk. The water was unpredictable, though there was a notice by the elevators about a water line break, which wasn't the hotel's fault. Sink water was too hot at night and freezing in the morning. I didn't hear other hotel guests, but city noise was constant. Philly drivers honk, and people were on the street all night. We were on the top floor, about as quiet as we could be. Bring earplugs or noise-cancelling earbuds if that bothers you. Complaints about the old building seem to come down to people not liking older structures; there was nothing wrong with it. Parking wasn't ideal, but it was manageable. Valet cost $75 overnight, so we used the Hamilton Iparkit garage instead. It was a six-minute walk, clean, and felt safe for two women traveling alone. Rates seemed relatively low: we paid $21 for around 12 hours overnight. It's not one of the lots the hotel recommends. I have no regrets. The unusable lock matters for safety, and the water issues are why I'm giving four stars. We didn't use the shower, so I can't comment on it. For someone in a situation like ours, I'd recommend the place. You get what you pay for, a no-frills, safe place to sleep.
Austin Dyees and Malik Bonney led the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown/Center City team through our wedding planning, and they were the one steady part we could count on. From our first inquiry, they were professional, kind, and attentive. They took ownership of something that mattered deeply to us, and the hotel went out of its way to help. My wife and I have never had service at this “platinum-diamond” level without extra charges or feeling nickeled and dimed. The team arranged rooms for most of our wedding guests, offered early check-in and extra time during a busy New Year's period, and kept everything running smoothly. When our best man had a sick family member, Austin and Malik handled the valet concerns so he could focus on family. They coordinated a celebratory thank-you lunch for the groom and wedding party, and quickly took care of a comfort request for the bride's stepfather so he could rest. They also set us up with separate suites the night before, let us use conference space to prepare for the wedding, and surprised us with champagne in our suite. Beyond all the logistics, it felt like we made friends and family along the way. Austin and Malik represent an outstanding level of hospitality and do credit to the property and Marriott brand. We're grateful to them and the supporting staff: Ta’jal, Tim, Letitia, Lauren, Brian, John, Jihad, and Quamir. We'll absolutely return when we're in Philadelphia and confidently recommend this hotel for weddings, groups, or other important trips. If we could, we'd give the experience 10 out of 5 stars.
