Western Motel Philadelphia

The motel was all smoking rooms, and the lights didn’t work. Our room was in awful shape, with a broken cabinet full of holes and a damaged door. They also gave us a room that was already occupied, so we had to switch. We asked for our charges back, but they said we’d been there more than 30 minutes and only refunded half. We were there that long because of their mistake.

The business suffers because they don’t have their own boss. We’d been there four days, and after I accidentally locked myself out of room 140, the boss quickly said I wasn’t getting a key card. My friend was in the room, and I’d already been trying to wake them up.

The shower and the woman at the front desk were the best parts. We paid 115 for two rooms, but both were nasty. We had to switch the first because the TV didn’t work, and there was a bullet shell casing on the floor. The second was a little better, but still gross: the sink was full of nasty yellow water that wouldn’t drain. The other room was cleaner, but still had stains on the bed and a carving of a man’s private area that my daughter found.

The front desk staff were friendly and worked hard. My one issue was housekeeping coming into my room at 10:30 when checkout was 11. I hadn’t been there from 8 until then, so they thought I’d left, but I came back because I still had a bag there. After seeing it, they should’ve waited until 11. Everything was still there, and I got over it. Besides that, it was a decent stay.
