Mountaineer Inn

Housekeeping quickly let me back into my room after I locked myself out while packing to leave. The desk staff were friendly, and check-in was easy. I was here for an event over the weekend, and the room stayed very clean with no problems during my visit. I'd happily stay again.

The room was okay, but breakfast at the restaurant was a letdown. I only wanted an ordinary decent meal, so I ordered pork chops with potatoes and two eggs. Each chop was so small and lean I got only a few bites from it. Even the hot chocolate was just water mixed with cocoa. I left disappointed, though at least my visit lasted just one day.

The service was excellent, and for a cheap, older motel the view from the window was beautiful. It's a clean, well-kept place, with a coffee maker in the room and a restaurant sharing the parking lot. There isn't breakfast or a restaurant in the motel itself. It's two floors and has no elevator. Since it's an older property, outside, hallway, and neighboring-room noise does come through. They accept Visa, Mastercard, and AmEx.

For a two-star motel, it was a surprisingly good stay. Pretty clean, quiet, everything worked, and the staff were nice. I'll come back when I'm in the area.
