Rodeway Inn & Suites Phillipsburg

Usually our family trips to see relatives are planned around staying here because it’s a good midway stop. After this, we’ll change routes or drive right past next time. We arrived late on Christmas night after staff called with instructions for getting our room key. They don’t staff overnight, which was no problem since we knew that from previous stays. But our assigned room hadn’t been cleaned. My husband reached staff, who had us try every key in the lock box until we found one that opened a different room. Mistakes happen, but nobody apologized or tried to make it right the next morning, not even with a half-hearted “sorry”. It was a horrible experience.

The room was odorless and clean, parking worked well for larger vehicles and cars with trailers, and the shower was great, with a large stall and adjustable high-flow showerhead. The service was friendly and high-quality. Thanks for calling the night before with instructions for getting into the hotel and our room after 10 pm. We’ve been traveling for about two months and staying in hotels that cost $100-$200 a night. This was the best one. I’d had back pain from bad mattresses for two days, bad enough to give me a headache, but this mattress was great and my headache was gone in the morning. Breakfast was probably the best of all the hotels we stayed in, with good variety and protein options. Good value.

The doors open into an interior area instead of straight outside like at most places, and the rates were good. Staff were friendly, rooms clean, and the internet was good, though it kept cutting out. ATT users get almost no service around here. That’s down to the location, not the hotel. A good stay for a Rodeway location.

The free breakfast had a nice range of choices and was delicious. Rooms were spacious and clean, and the staff were great.
