The breakfast wasn't great, with little variety and only pork sausages. I did like how the boiled eggs were packaged in grab-and-go containers. The building's design isn't modern, but the hotel is kept super clean, with housekeeping every day. I think Veronica cleaned my room most of the time and treated it like her own. She was one of only two housekeepers I've met on my business hotel stays who stood out like that. After work, the counters, tables, and other surfaces were sparkling, and the floors were mopped and vacuumed well. They really go out of their way. At check-in, I worried that all the staff might be like Rocky at the front desk. I expect a welcoming smile, but he gave me a serious look and didn't speak for a minute. I greeted him cheerfully and said I was used to smiling faces. He replied that he hadn't seen me, and didn't try to smile back. The only time I saw him smiling during my stay was when he was talking to a male coworker. I wondered if it might be cultural. Aside from Rocky's poor customer service, it's a good hotel.

On our second stay, months after the first, we again had barely warm water, even after letting it run for 25 minutes. We spoke with the front desk several times. After checking out, we learned that low occupancy can cause hot water problems, especially in rooms far from the source. That doesn't make it okay to have to take a cold shower. The hotel generally meets our needs when we're in Pasadena, and the staff are great, but we won't come back. We usually stay at Marriotts, and the Fairfield Inn on Beltway 8 doesn't have this hot water issue. Employees and guests deserve better, and I hope Marriott corporate steps in to fix it.

The hotel is great, but the rooms aren't soundproof. With a busy intersection nearby, the noise was a surprise. It would've been five stars without that.

Even with earplugs, the highway traffic next door was awful. I may have slept four hours. The rooms are fine and the staff is nice, but I won't be back.

The breakfast was good, and the staff were really friendly. My wife, our three kids, and I found the rooms very comfortable. We'd stay here again for our next vacation.
