Best Western Plus Chandler Hotel & Suites

The room was huge, but the floor didn't look vacuumed, and one bed looked like someone had already sat or lain across it. Whatever a person books, directly or through a third party, should be what they get. The front desk acted as if it was my fault for using a third party and like we should feel lucky to have a room. The manager had been rubbing his mouth and then was conveniently not there.

The bed was super comfortable, and the hotel itself is nice, but I'm not sure we'd stay again. The shower had mold all along the trim. Two bathroom bulbs were out when we checked in, so we called maintenance. They replaced them with bulbs that didn't match the ones already there. After the worker left, I unscrewed all the bulbs and moved the two super bright ones to the ends, which made it easier for my wife to get ready at the mirror.

The place felt dingy and worn, and there were surprise stains on the mattress. Staff were at least accommodating and moved us to another room, though that one didn't smell great either. This hotel wasn't for me.

The only real upside was being close to lots of things to do nearby. I stayed January 1-4 with my two daughters and my mother, and it was an extremely disappointing visit. I added January 1 to an existing reservation and was told it would be under the same confirmation number. Still, on January 2 they called and said I had to check out and vacate the room. It took manager involvement and nearly an hour at the desk to fix, stressing my children, and they then tried to charge me a higher rate for a mistake that wasn't mine. The indoor heated pool was the main reason I booked. It wasn't heated at all, cold air was blowing into the pool area, and it was unusable for my kids and uncomfortable for adults. I contacted the desk several times over three days, but nothing was fixed, and there were no towels in the pool area. I paid extra for that amenity and couldn't use it. The kitchenette suite was booked for four people but stocked for only two. The regular beds were comfortable, but the pullout sofa mattress was unusable, with every spring and metal bar easy to feel. I ended up sleeping on couch cushions. After 22 years in the military, I'm rarely one to complain about sleep conditions, but this wasn't acceptable. The sofa shouldn't be advertised as a sleeping option. I travel to Arizona at least twice a month to see my daughters and hoped to make this my regular hotel. With these problems and no resolution, I can't recommend staying here.
