Raintrees Desert Arroyo

The resort itself was beautiful, but they lied to get me to attend a timeshare presentation, and that spoiled the vacation.

We’ve been coming as a family of six every April for five years, and the property has kept improving. All five units we’ve stayed in, both two and three bedroom, had updated decor and were very clean and comfortable. A few dining chairs had stains, and the sleeper sofas aren’t very comfortable, but those were the exceptions. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the units are well equipped. I love how peaceful it is, with 17,000 acres of hiking right outside the property. There’s plenty to do nearby, though the resort itself is quiet and doesn’t organize activities. Our 5 year old and 14 year old both enjoy it. I highly recommend it.

I arrived at 1 a.m. after a flight delay for a second week, with a confirmed reservation and payment, and was told the hotel was overbooked and had no room for me. Nobody had warned me beforehand. I was left outside with my bags trying to find somewhere to stay. During my first week, someone repeatedly entered my room despite the “do not disturb” sign. Things were moved around, there was hair in the tub, and the TV had been changed to BET. After I alerted the front desk, I bought a security camera, though I never got to use it the second week. Avoid this place.

The trails behind the complex were great for hiking, and we felt at home with our own garage remote and a washer and dryer. I’ve stayed here several times without any of the problems other reviewers described. The place was exceptionally clean and in good repair, with a great pool area and workout space. There are gas grills, a fresh water pool and a saltwater pool, plus two hot tubs with lifts for people with disabilities. I’d recommend the location. If I ever got a unit that was unclean or in poor condition, I’d ask to move since the desk is open 24 hours. I’m arriving for a few overnight stays in 11/2016.
