Hotel Indigo Pittsburgh University-Oakland by IHG

The employee couldn't explain the parking charge, which makes the business look like a joke. The site says self-parking is available, but at check-in I was told it costs $22.00 plus tax, supposedly $30.00. I pointed out that Pennsylvania's tax rate is 7% and asked how that added up, but she said she didn't know. There's a garage to the left with a $5.00 weekend rate. They should let people park free after they've paid for a room and other fees, or at least have staff who know the charges.

The hotel was impeccably clean, and the amenities were useful. The shuttle driver and a blonde lady at the front desk were welcoming and accommodating. Room service was very quick, and a bathroom issue was fully taken care of right away. The maintenance man was courteous too. I'm giving it four stars because some staff seemed annoyed while handling basic parts of their jobs and weren't friendly. Even so, it was a great stay. I've been to hotel indigo a few times and will keep coming back.

The rooms were clean and a decent size, and the shuttle made it easy to reach the hockey and football games. The hotel isn’t walkable to downtown or many attractions, but Marvin, our driver, was excellent and made getting there and back simple. First visit to Pittsburgh, and I’d recommend staying here because of him.

We came to pick up my daughter from the University of Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving break and enjoyed our stay, though a few upkeep problems kept it from being a five-star visit. Our standard-room booking was upgraded to a premium room with a nice layout: a living area near the entrance, then the bathroom, with the bedroom at the back. The furniture was clean but worn. The sofa wasn’t comfortable for sitting long, the desk chair had duct tape on one small spot, and one of the two queen beds had a pilled sheet. Since the room faced I-376, road noise was noticeable. We appreciated having four pairs of earplugs. Check-in was quick, friendly, and easy. They recognized our IHG status and gave us welcome amenities. The decor and design were appealing, the service was good, and the location suited our university visit. Parking is listed at $22 plus tax, but it came to a little over $30 per night.
