Point au Roche Lodge

The only real disappointment was the jacuzzi tub in the Weaver Suite, which we couldn’t use because there wasn’t much hot water. We chose that room mainly for the tub. Still, we’re planning to return when it’s warmer so we can explore the beautiful state park next door. We were there in the off season and had most of the lodge to ourselves, so it was quiet and private. It was a bit chilly throughout, but our room had space heaters and logs were ready by the fire. Check-in was fully automated and having no staff on site made me a little nervous, but a quick call connected us with staff and they sorted things out fast. There’s beautiful hardwood throughout, lots of cozy spots to relax, and a full communal kitchen for cooking and storing food. I had a hard time wanting to leave.

The suites are spacious and have a great cozy winter lodge feel. We’ve come back for two years now, staying in a Jacuzzi suite with a fireplace. It’s a great starting point for hiking the trails at the state park just across the street. Plattsburgh is a ten-minute drive away, and Lake Placid is an hour away. Grizzly's Grill delivers to the lodge.

We had the Sailor Suite on the top floor, where the big windows gave us views of deer and birds, including several cardinals. The lodge is quiet, clean, and well cared for, across from the state park. We had use of a full kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, and more. Other guests were there during our stay, and everyone was pleasant and easy to get along with. Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and will be back.

We enjoyed having dinner in the nearby town, and we’ll find a reason to stay here again. The lodge is quiet and cozy, with spacious rooms that each have their own decor. The staff are very professional and helpful. It’s an amazing place.
