We booked this as an “entire home,” but arrived to find a basement unit in an occupied house, with a locked interior door connecting to the main home and a shared backyard. None of that was disclosed. I would never have booked it if I had known, especially with children. The unit smelled strongly unpleasant, and air fresheners were placed throughout to mask it. The bathroom was dirty, with lots of hair in the shower and visible black mold on the ceiling. The fire alarm outside the bedroom was broken, and the listed WiFi didn't work. My children were so frightened they cried and couldn't sleep. They felt unsafe, and with these conditions, I understand why. We left early because we couldn't stay another night. We requested a 75% partial refund, which seemed reasonable since we left early and gave the owner a chance to rebook. Since we left, Debbie, the host, has not replied to any emails. That was completely unprofessional. We documented everything in photos and video and are prepared to share it with VRBO, consumer protection agencies, and anywhere else necessary. The listing was deceptive, and the conditions were unsanitary and unsafe. Avoid this property.
