Mirbeau Inn & Spa

I had a wonderful, peaceful time relaxing and recharging with my mother. Lunch was delicious and made with really fresh ingredients. Our massages were incredible and left us feeling loose and limber. I can't wait to come back for lunch and enjoy the amenities again. I'd highly recommend this spa for a peaceful, lovely visit.

I love the atmosphere here. You could easily spend the whole day, even if you only book one service. Their tea selection is great, and I like the restaurant upstairs. The massages are quite good, though never amazing for me. I wish they used more pressure.

The property itself is lovely, and Olivia was terrific at dinner: friendly, attentive, and quick with the food. The spa treatments, including facials, massages, wraps, and peels, were a hit with our large group celebrating a family member's special event. The rest of the service was a letdown. We asked the concierge around 11 for an itemized bill so everyone could pay their share, and were told someone would bring it over. We were seated for lunch at 11:30, after hearing the night before that someone in our group had been allowed to reserve for 11. We were only the second table seated, but coffee took until around noon, then the appetizer arrived about 15 minutes later. Other parties seated after us got their food first. We spent over two hours there and saw our server maybe three times. When we checked about the bill, we were told someone had come by and said it wasn't needed, which never happened. They'd already charged the card on file at 12, and didn't offer to redo it. The front desk and bistro service was poor, aside from Olivia, who really stayed on top of our table.

The building and location are beautiful, and the staff, especially Steven, were kind and professional. We were excited to celebrate my partner's birthday here, and the spa looked lovely, but we never got to enjoy it. We called ahead with questions and were told hotel guests had priority for spa bookings. After we were assured our reservation was set, we arrived to find there was no booking and no availability. Since we'd already paid over 400 for one night, we ended up searching online for a spa in Plymouth and leaving the hotel to do what we'd come for. The room had no working WiFi or TV, so I had to call off work because I couldn't access what I needed on my tablet. At check-in, we were also told the hot water was out with no clear return time. It came back after about an hour, but by 9:50 the next morning it was off again, and I couldn't shower. We checked out and left. For the price, this was unbelievable. I've stayed in motels with better quality. Maybe we picked the wrong day, but the stay was so disappointing that I wouldn't book again. We should have stayed home.
