John Carver Inn & Spa

The pool took most of the day to fix, which cut into our plans, but we went later and the kids had a blast. The hotel brought pastries for breakfast and pizza for lunch to make up for the inconvenience. There was construction going on, though traveling with children had us up before it began at 8am. We had a great trip and would stay again, maybe once the work is finished. A microwave in the room would help too; the one by the vending and ice machine meant walking the whole hallway.

The slides kept the kids excited while the lazy river gave adults a chance to relax. Everything felt safe and well organized, and the staff were friendly and helpful during our stay. It's a fun family break in cold weather, especially if you're looking for a little vacation without going far.

The staff were really sweet and seemed to be doing what they could with what they had. My room had been newly renovated and was nice, but the amenities felt pretty down-market. The pool area was cold, and the towels were so small and thin they were about the size of hand towels. The hot tub sits in the children's pool, there are no robes, and the toiletries provided are small and cheap. There isn't a bar or lounge on site either. Maybe I should've researched more, but I wouldn't recommend it for a ladies' weekend or a spa getaway. It just wasn't a plush experience.

The pool is great for young kids, and the arcade gave everyone something else to do. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We had a clean, nice newly renovated room for our midweek visit to historical Plymouth, though the sliding bathroom door felt fairly dangerous for children and there was no microwave. Free coffee and tea in the lobby would be a welcome addition. As it is, the choices are driving somewhere or using the cheap in-room machine.
