Motel 6 Poplar Bluff, MO

The room was OK and the bed was comfortable. There was a bit of a smoke smell in the halls, but for $70 it was worth the stay. I don't usually choose lower-tier hotels, though this one worked well for a night. The front desk staff were friendly, and it was easy to reach, with downtown just a short drive away.

I took a chance on this Motel 6 for a last-minute stop, even though I'm usually wary of Motel 6 and think 85% of them are dumps. Glad I did. It was very clean, and the staff were great and funny. The rooms are a tad small, but it was just for the night, so I couldn't ask for much better. I'd definitely stay here again when I'm passing through.

My stays here have normally been great, and I don't usually have an issue. This weekend, 1/26 - 2/2, was the worst ever. People in the adjoining room were smoking inside, even though this is a no-smoking hotel. I called down the first time and staff came up. I told Rob the second time, and I'm pretty sure I mentioned it to the overnight guy too, though I could be wrong. On the night of 2/1, the smoke got so bad I couldn't breathe and woke up coughing. I don't know the company's policy, but people who won't follow the rules should be asked to leave. The people in 216 were just too lazy to go outside to smoke.

A random puddle showed up in the hallway in the morning, and some of the other guests seemed a little sketchy. The motel itself was fine, though. It's a solid place to pull off the road for a night, and pets stay free.
