The Poco Loco Lodge

I was told the key would be left under the mat, but it wasn’t there. Nobody responded, and my calls weren’t returned. I had to book somewhere else, and couldn’t cook the dinner I’d brought on a night when all the restaurants were closed. I’ve stayed here for over a decade, often booking multiple rooms at a time, usually during the week when they could use the business. Maintenance had slipped, but I’d put up with that because the service was decent and the rooms clean enough. Now they’ve completely failed to leave a key or return calls. That’s a nonstarter. This place has really gone to shit, which is sad. I’m so disappointed.

First time staying at Poco Loco Lodge tonight, and it’s a diamond in the rough. The staff or owners, I assume, were super friendly, and the room was especially clean. The bathroom and shower were clean, with nice hot water and good pressure. The AC worked great, and the room was cool when we arrived, even though we didn’t have a reservation. It’s much cozier and cleaner than the other places we’ve stayed in town. There were complimentary snacks and drinks in the mini fridge, plus a Kuerig and pods in the room, and cable tv. Highly recommend. We’ll stay here again.

It’s only a few feet from the water, though there isn’t much of a beach view, which is why I give the location 4 stars. My wife and I wanted a couple of days away, with nature for her and fishing for me, somewhere not too far from home in Houston. We stumbled on Poco loco Lodge in Port O'Connor Texas, and this cute, kitchy little place was amazing. I felt like a guest in the owner’s home. The rooms were bright and beautiful, especially if you like bright colors, and the decor was unlike anything I’d seen before. I can’t wait to see it again. Every room has a little kitchenette, complimentary drinks in the fridge, and snacks in the kitchen. For fishing, they had an ice machine, a vacuum sealer if I needed it, and a little guide book with great places to fish. It’s pet friendly, and you can drive right up to your room. I can’t recommend this place enough.

While I was in route, the courteous staff even printed some personal documents for me and put them in the room. The place is well kept, cozy, and no hassle. We really enjoyed everything about our stay. We’re Poco Loco fans now 😊.
