Port Royal near Parris Island

This was easily our worst stay here, and we won’t be back. The service has really declined. Our room was dusty and dirty, including the tub and counters, so we had to clean it ourselves. Housekeeping didn’t take out the trash or leave clean towels, and when we asked for more, we were told we’d have to wait until morning. Meanwhile, the front desk staff sat outside with a group, being loud, smoking, and carrying on. The front desk staff were absolutely horrible.

It’s in a great, quiet location, but the room needed much better maintenance and housekeeping. The AC never cooled things down, so it was really hot. Though our room was non-smoking, the covers had cigarette burns. The tub was dirty and had hair in it, and we saw two roaches. Staff collected our towels but didn’t bring replacements, so we ended up buying toilet paper ourselves.

The breakfast buffet’s nice lady was the one exception to the awful customer service. The room itself was filthy: hair in the bed sheets, marks on the covers, dust, and stains all over the carpet. It looked like the sheets hadn’t been changed between guests. The toilet was already clogged when I arrived, and the water was brownish. Disgusting. Avoid if you can.

We wouldn’t stay here again, though it wasn’t the worst place. The location was convenient for several places we visited, felt private, and stayed quiet even late at night. The staff were friendly despite some language barriers. Our room had several maintenance and safety problems, although we appreciated the upgraded floor. Housekeeping missed a few things, but the tub was clean. I asked for fresh sheets after check-in, not because they were dirty, but because a stain at pillow level would have bothered me all night.
