Rodeway Inn

The lobby was being renovated, so there was no breakfast. In room 327, two smoke detectors chirped all night because they needed new batteries. The TV in the main part of the room had three lines running down the middle, too. Definitely not a hotel I’d recommend.

The leak under the sink kept the bathroom floor soaked during the two months I was there, and the water spread into the hallway. There was even a puddle on the second-floor carpet. I had a child with me, and this place allows pets despite having carpet. I found dog poop on my floor, and housekeeping never once asked if I needed anything or brought a vacuum. Dogs barked and tried to bite people in the hallway. The whole building was under construction and looked awful, with no pool, breakfast, or anything else to offer. I also couldn’t pay for my room ahead of time at night because the front desk worker said she didn’t know how, and told me to wait for her shift to end so someone else could take payment. This place is nasty and not worth staying in.

For a work trip to Indiana, this Rodeway Inn was an inexpensive place to sleep, and the room was quiet enough for some rest. The staff stayed polite while dealing with an internet outage that delayed check-in by about an hour. Several clerks were trying to fix it, and an older woman who had been living there since mid-July was especially welcoming and helped make the wait easier. Still, I wouldn’t go out of my way to book it again unless I needed something quick and cheap. The room was dim, dated, and smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke, as if it had settled into the carpet or walls. It didn’t look dirty, but it needs updating. There was only a hand towel and a face towel, no full-size towel or bathroom soap after a long day of travel. The electronics were old too, with no USB ports, clock, or charging options beyond regular outlets. I’d also been led to expect breakfast, but none was served. It was a pretty average stay, with room features and check-in speed that could be better.

It was awful. The building was so cold outside the rooms that you could see your breath, and the room itself was full of mold. There was banging and yelling at all hours, especially at night, and police were coming to rooms. This place should be shut down.
