La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Portland Airport

The biggest problem was how we were treated when we asked about housekeeping. The front desk spoke to us rudely and said we should have listened at check-in, because the room wouldn't be cleaned during our stay. Nobody had clearly told us that when we arrived. We were there four nights. The room smelled strongly of smoke, and lots of surfaces felt sticky and dirty. The phone didn't work, and neither did the spa properly, even though those amenities were part of why we booked. Breakfast was disappointing too. Much of the food was gone when we got there, and the scrambled eggs were cold by the time anything was restocked. The poor communication, cleanliness, food, and out-of-order amenities made for a very frustrating stay. I hope the hotel gets better at explaining things and keeping the rooms, facilities, and breakfast in shape.

Good value overall. There's a pool and hot tub open around the clock, plus free breakfast and cookies in the afternoon or evening. The rooms have the basics you need, and there are plenty of other airport hotels nearby. Just note that the shuttle to the airport doesn't run 24/7.

The staff were great, and breakfast had hot sausage and eggs. The room was being refurbished, though, with no carpet and worn bathroom doors. I know that's temporary, but it was still annoying. I'd wait until they have a room that's not torn apart before staying here again.

When we came back three days later, the accessible parking spaces were still blocked. My brother uses a wheelchair and is quadriplegic, and we were staying the night before his early flight for a medical procedure. All three handicapped spaces had construction equipment in them. The lot was full, so we had to park far away and haul the luggage uphill on an incline. It felt unsafe and made an already difficult situation much harder. There were ordinary spaces and plenty of room elsewhere on the property, so blocking every accessible space wasn't necessary. We told the front desk, but they didn't act or offer help. Accessibility shouldn't be treated as an afterthought. Do better, La Quinta.
