Motel 6 Portland, OR - Downtown

The pool looked dirty and seemed to have no chlorine, and I found cockroaches and bedbugs in the rooms. Housekeeping also came into our room while we were sleeping and just stood there staring instead of apologizing and leaving. The male staff harassed me inappropriately, which was disgusting. Patrica and the general manager were extremely unprofessional. I’ve never had service this awful elsewhere. Don’t stay here.

There’s a Dennys right next door, and the MAX is close too, which makes it easy to get out of the street. The room was clean and neat, thanks to housekeeping. The front office man was A1A helpful, and the vending machine was straightforward. For me, it doesn’t get much better than this in 2025.

The front desk guy was nice, but I couldn’t stay. The room had an odd smell, the toilet was dirty, and there were black hairs all over the fresh bedding. The area didn’t feel very safe either. When I arrived, nobody was at the desk, so I waited about 20 minutes until he drove into the parking lot. He seemed to be the only one running the place. Nice guy, though.

The train passes less than 100 feet away every five minutes or so, and you hear and feel each one. There were also prostitutes and drug dealers moving around outside day and night. Inside, the lights had no shades, there was graffiti on the wall, and the room reeked like a disgusting wet ashtray. The smoke detector was missing, with toilet paper stuffed into the opening. I’d have slept better at a homeless shelter. This particular Motel 6 is bad enough to drag down my view of an already embattled brand. I wouldn’t return even for twice the room price. They should cut their losses, clear the building, sell the lot, and build somewhere a little better.
