Portlander Inn and Marketplace

The bar was great, even though the drinks were pricey, about a 10$ shot and a 7$ imported beer, I think. The front desk woman didn’t seem very welcoming. At 120$ plus tax, the room is overpriced for what you get. Definitely not the Holiday Inn.

There’s plenty to do here, from the food and entertainment to the convenience store and fuel station. The trucking museum is a fun bonus, and it makes sense that the place caters mainly to truckers. I had a great stay, though the pillows could be better, so I bring my own now. You need to live at least 50 miles away to stay, presumably to keep riffraff out. If you qualify, it’s a cool place to try, whether once or a dozen times. Pack a pillow and check it out.

We came back for a second stay and were just as happy this time. The price is really good for what you get, and the staff are very friendly. Our second-floor room was quiet, with no noise from above. The rooms are older, but very clean, and there are only 100 of them. The restaurant serves huge portions, easily enough to share, and everything was freshly made. I’m glad we’ll be back now that my daughter will be playing college ball here. They also have good discounts for CDL, military, seniors, and others. Two friends each rented a room after our recommendation.

There’s a little town attached to the place, which was a nice surprise: restaurants, a bar, mini mart, theater, laundry services, and a gym. My room was clean and quiet, and I felt safe there. It was a great room for the price.
