Staybridge Suites Portland by IHG

I use Staybridge a lot for work, but this one was a complete letdown. The bathroom ceiling had black mold along all the edges. When we first walked in, there was a moldy smell covered up by a strong Pine-Sol odor. I was exhausted and stayed anyway, then woke up the next day completely stopped up. Even the ice bucket was just a pitcher kept in the fridge.

The people who checked me in at night and checked me out in the morning were pleasant, but I don’t see myself staying here again. I booked after finding urine and hair on the toilets at the Hampton Inn next door. This place looked clean at first, yet wiping the restroom tile with a soapy towel brought up dirt. There was also an overpowering strange smell in the hotel and my room that made me nauseous. I can’t say whether it came from the cleaning products. The TV was a decent size, but mounted in a spot that made it hard to watch from bed.

Breakfast was delicious, and we also enjoyed the clean pool and its pleasant atmosphere. The gym and laundry facilities were handy perks. We stayed for an extended time, found the room comfortable, and the staff were friendly and courteous. We’ll definitely stay here again.

I booked 52 nights, and during the last three weeks my room was cleaned only once, after I complained. I had to stand by the door while they did it. Every day I watched the cleaners work on the same empty room across the hall while my trash overflowed and I ran out of clean towels. It was impossible to explain what I needed because none of the cleaning staff spoke English. They showed no work ethic at all. The staff who run the social nights are amazing, which earns the location part three stars, but housekeeping ruined the whole stay.
