Portland Harbor Hotel

The terrace was a highlight for us. We stayed warm by the fire beneath the heaters, and it was just as pretty and enjoyable as it looked online. We skipped the bistro, though the menu looked appealing and the bar seemed great. The lobby was lovely too, and I liked taking the elevator there and walking down the stairs to street level, even though the elevator goes straight down. Valet staff were great. Our room was clean and spacious, with a nice bathroom, and the staff checked that we were comfortable. Adam at the front desk was especially excellent. On my first visit to Maine, Portland Harbor Hotel added a lot to the trip. The location is hard to beat, with great local spots on the block Nextdoor. The room lighting is much warmer than it looks in my camera photo. People here seem happy to have you stay and feel comfortable, rather than treating you like just another reservation. I’d absolutely recommend the Portland harbor hotel and will stay here again.

My spouse and I spent the weekend at Portland Harbor Hotel for a little baby moon. The rooms were lovely, the location was perfect, and the staff went out of their way to make it special, including leaving us a sweet gift for the baby. The amenities get five stars from me. Highly recommend!

Adam, Pearl, Elizabeth, and the bartenders were great. I can’t remember one bartender’s name, but wanted to give them a shout-out too. The front desk team was really helpful and had good recommendations. Our room stayed clean and was both cozy and spacious. The hotel is right in downtown Portland, so bars and restaurants are only minutes away, which worked well for our winter visit. 10/10, I’d stay again.

The location was the one bright spot, but there are many other hotels nearby and I wouldn’t choose this one again. The room felt dated and musty, and the whole property seems due for renovation. Service was poor, with rude front desk staff and no apology when the elevator stopped working. We had to climb six flights, and the stairway was lined with old room service dishes, which felt unsanitary. Professional, kind staff might have salvaged the stay, but nobody followed through.
