We liked the easy walk into town, and sitting outside our room with a beer was a nice way to spend some time. The room was clean and comfortable, though a few design choices felt like compromises and parts looked a little tired. We enjoyed our two nights in October 2025, but had better stays during our three-week road trip. The style here is great.

The bathroom in Classic Room 3 was the main drawback. It’s tiny, with very little room to move between the sink and shower, and I’m not a large person. The shower stall is minuscule, and the overhead head sends water down with such high pressure that it felt like little needles filling the whole space. The bed and pillows were excellent, and on freezing nights I really appreciated the electric thermostat fireplace. Its flickering light sometimes came on in the middle of the night and made it hard to sleep, so I bought an eye mask and that solved it. I stayed four nights. The kitchen was a nice size, with coffee supplies and a fridge, but no dishes, utensils, dish soap, or sponge. I had to buy a bowl and spoon to use the breakfast items I brought. I loved having no shared walls. The price was right and the location decent. I’d try another room if I stayed again, hoping for a better bathroom.

The large patio was a big reason I picked The Motor Lodge, and it was a great place to unwind after walking around town all day. The room’s fireplace made it cozy even in the October cold, and the bed was really comfortable. There’s a great brewery restaurant within walking distance, excellent coffee and breakfast next door, and Whiskey Row is a 10 minute walk away. The retro decor is really cute, and the staff were super warm and friendly. It was our first visit, and we’d definitely book again.

The shower is my one real complaint. It’s small, with the shower head in the ceiling, and I honestly felt like I was drowning. Still, I highly recommend this cute motor lodge. We love staying here, and came with a large group for a car show downtown. The porches are a great place to hang out with a drink. Our large corner room didn’t have a porch, but luckily we know our neighbors.

I booked this hotel because I was looking forward to the Nordic spa, and I even got a couple of rooms and invited other people to stay the same night. The sauna itself was lovely, but the heated seats by the fire pit didn’t work, and neither did the cold shower. With my reynauds syndrome, the seats make all the difference. They suggested using the swimming pool as a plunge pool, but full submersion is very painful for me when it’s 37-40 degrees. The hot tub was part of the pool area, so there was no extra fee, but it was cold and had a hose pipe running into it. Paying $50 for 10 minutes in the sauna felt expensive. It would have been less disappointing if the full experience had worked, though even sauna, shower, and heated seats still seems pricey. The main part of the hotel was really nice, and I had a great evening playing pool, chess, and socializing. The bathroom was very dusty around the floor edges and baseboards, and the fridge hadn’t been cleared from the last guest. That wasn’t a big deal, but I was very disappointed by the spa.
